Karaoke Speaker Reviews

Because of the live vocals, a proper karaoke system requires PA speakers. These speakers can be either powered (active) or non-powered (passive). Powered speakers each contain their own amplifier and require an audio signal, typically a light gauge cable, and power from an electrical outlet. Non-powered speakers get their audio signal and power via a heavy duty speaker cable.

Powered speakers are typically used in conjunction with an audio mixer. Non-powered speakers are used with a mixer/power amp combination or a powered mixer and should be matched according to the total power output of the amplifier and the combined program power handling rating of the speakers. The rule of thumb is that the total power output ratting of the amplifier be twice the combined program (not peak) power handling rating of the speakers.

Below are some of the more popular powered (active) speakers with the manufacturer's description. Jump to Non-Powered Speakers
